I'm from L.A. for a business travel. Having a great steak is one of the MUST things to do in Texas. I had enough Texas steaks and BBQ here and it was just about time to try something different. A special friend in Plainview, invited me to this great restaurant. I've heard about it for awhile but never had a chance to come since my work in at Lubbock. As a kid growing up in Los Angeles, my favorite place to eat was always the Benihana. Even now, it is still one of my favorite list of restaurant to go. So I might say I am an expert when it comes to a teppanyaki. Before we were seated at the teppanyaki table, we've decided to have some appetizer at sushi side of the restaurant. They said it was new addition to the restaurant. Ordered some sushi, rolls and sashimi with hot sake. Didn't try them all but they looked all good. It was one of the coldest days in October so the hot sake was great way to start the dinner. Later we were seated at the teppanyaki table. I was ready for a good Japanese steak. With little wait, the chef of the day came to the table with cart full of good fresh looking ingredients. And I have noticed a tray full of white rice in the cart. "That? All of that?" I asked my friend. And he said, "Yes, it's like that here." Starting with huge fire show the entire tray of rice was on the grill. The chef started to stir toss and stir the rice around... skillfully keeping mountain of rice within the edge of the grill. It was fun. I've had seen some teppanyaki grill masters in the past but this guy was the most fun guy ever. Almost half of my big plate was covered with fried rice. Then the chef started to cook veggies, seafood and then the steak. I was getting stuffed but food kept coming. The portion was enough to bring home another full meal after filling up my stomach. They say everything's big in Texas. This was huge! And they all tasted excellent! If you are not a salt kind of a person, ask to go easy on salt and sauce. But if you like savory food, just put your trust in chef. : ) They know what they are doing. It was great experience! I enjoyed every moment there. Now I'm back in L.A. and I already miss it. You are all lucky Plainview for having this restaurant near you. Chow!

Stopping in Plainview for the night, this was the ONLY Asian restaurant that looked worth going to. Oh, wow! What a good call!! About a dozen or so Hibachi grills wait for hungry customers. Yes, bring your appetites, because the show is great, and the portions are plenty. Classic Hibachi Steakhouse entertainment. Flying knives, shrimp and salt shakers. Lots of fire (the "Onion Volcano" is a definite hit). All make for great ambiance to a great meal. I had the Hibachi steak which came with fried rice, 3 shrimp, and vegetables. The steak was tender, the shrimp tasty, everything was quite good. My only concern (which is silly of me considering the style of cooking) is the salt content. The combination of salt WITH soy sauce, in a couple of the dishes was a bit on the salty side. But, PFFFF!, who cares! Drink more water. It was still good. And the service is impeccable!! Constant attention was paid to water and tea glasses, clearing dishes, asking if everything was okay. Top notch hospitality. And it's ALL IN PLAINVIEW!! So, if you happen to be in the area (or LIVE here), get on over and have some fun. You won't be disappointed and you won't leave hungry.
